Anticancer nuts

Nuts are an excellent natural source of vitamins, minerals, proteins, healthy fats and fiber. In addition, anticancer properties of nuts make them more important for general health and cancer prevention. Anticancer nuts are recommended by several scientists and these recommendations are based on science. If we don’t use enough nuts and seeds, we weaken our body anticancer immunity.

Compared to non-nut eaters, people who ate at least 10 grams a day had a 23% lower chance of death from any cause. They were 17% less likely to die from heart disease, 21% less likely to die from cancer, 30% less likely to die from diabetes, and 47% less likely to die from neurodegenerative diseases, according to the study, which was published in the International Journal of Epidemiology.

Almonds can be considered as the best plant source of high-quality and well-absorbable protein. The quality of almonds’ protein is determined by the amount of essential amino acids and digestibility. Almonds contain almost as much protein as lean meat (up to 30%). In addition, almonds contain various minerals (calcium, magnesium, manganese and phosphorus) which are involved in bone strengthening. The almond seeds contain large amounts of almond oil, useful enzymes, vitamin E and vitamin C.
Almonds contain very specific compound called “glycosides” – the combination of sugar and cyanide- amygdalin (known as potent poison). Amygdalin has selective toxicity. Scientific experiments discovered that cancerous cells produce specific enzyme that destroys amygdalin into sugar and cyanide. While cancerous cells utilize sugar, the cyanide damages cancer cells. Fortunately healthy cells cannot be damaged by almond’s cyanide because healthy cells contain anti-cyanide enzymes. It should be mentioned that healthy cells’ anti-cyanide enzymes can work only against small amount of cyanide. In addition, amygdalin is also able to inhibit tumor angiogenesis – if the blood flow to the tumor is blocked, cancer cells stop developing or die. At the same time, amygdalin induces apoptosis of cancer cells (cells self-suicide).

Brazil nuts main beneficial property is high content of selenium which cannot be synthesized in human body and must be supplied with food. Furthermore Brazil nuts contain essential amino acid methionine which promotes the absorption of selenium.
Brazil nuts contain also essential amino acids, essential fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6), iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, copper, potassium, phosphates, phosphorus, riboflavin, flavonoids, thiamin, niacin, choline, betaine and vitamins E, C and B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9).
According to scientists, Brazil nuts reduce risks for colon cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer. Brazil nuts properties protect cells from inflammation (first steps to cancerous transformations) and protect also from free radicals (responsible for cancer development). At the same time, Brazil nuts strengthen the immune system and increase body’s resistance to viral diseases and bacterial infections.
Brazil nuts can reduce the body toxicity by helping to rid of heavy metals (lead, mercury, platinum) – it can reduce also the toxicity of certain drugs.

Pine nuts are not only tasty but also extremely useful product. Pine nuts contain up to 44% protein (12 times more than in chicken meat). It is very important for vegetarians who need to compensate their “protein deficiency”. Pine nuts protein is very similar to human proteins – this is why pine nuts can be absorbed by 99%.
Pine nuts contain also essential amino acids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamins A, C, D, E, F and B-complex.
Pine nuts contain several anticancer properties including antioxidants and alpha-linolenic acid – both are recognized as strong anti breast cancer elements.

Anticancer nuts – Cashew nuts

Cashews are rich in vitamins and minerals – vitamins E, K and B-complex; sodium, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium. The most valuable in the cashew nuts is the content of unsaturated fatty acids omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9.
According to some studies cashew nuts have anticancer properties. Cashew nuts contain unique substance “proanthocyanidin” which is able to inhibit tumor growth factor.

Anticancer nuts – Walnuts

Walnuts are full of antioxidants such as omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid, polyphenols (flavonoids and phenolic acids). Walnuts contain vitamins A, C, E and B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9) and minerals (copper, manganese, magnesium). Walnuts also contain natural hormone melatonin and plant substances (phytosterols) that can reduce blood cholesterol levels. Walnuts can provide anticancer activities thanks to high levels of alpha-linolenic acid which is known as strong anti-tumor property.
According to Research Cancer Institute (USA), regular consumption of walnuts reduces risks for tumor development. Scientists have found that walnuts alter the activity of several fundamental genes responsible for the development of breast cancer. Furthermore, the experimental results showed that walnut consumption by pregnant women reduces the risk of cancer in their children in the future.

Some scientists suggest that one of five daily food portions should be replaced by nuts.

Regular consumption of at least a handful of walnuts significantly reduces the risk of various diseases including cancer.

According to research, only by eating about 100g nuts per week we can reduce our cancer risks by 45%.

Eating large quantities of pine nuts, walnuts and almonds reduces the likelihood of developing malignant breast tumors up to 40%.

Nuts are also effective in pancreatic cancer and ovarian cancer.
