Brown smelly spotting

Brown smelly spotting can be pretty disturbing – this kind of vaginal discharge could be a symptom of more than one causes. It is well known that brown vaginal spotting usually means appearance of old oxidized blood (remains of menstrual period or spotting from inflammation or vessels’ infection damage). Menstrual tampon users also could experience brown smelly spotting due to forgotten or “lost” tampon or because of keeping tampon long in vagina (more than 5-6 hours).

During inflammation stage of cervical cancer women also can have brown spotting with unpleasant smell due to vessels’ damage and cells’ necrosis.

  • Cysts, polyps (of cervix, vagina, or uterus) or fibroids,
  • Intrauterine devices (IUDs),
  • Cervical cancer.

  • Use only cotton panties it will prevent sweating and connected odor-causing bacteria;
  • Never forget about vaginal hygiene which is important for vaginal infection prevention;
  • Comfortable loose fitting cotton underwear should be changed every day after routine washing and/or shower;Avoid vaginal douching – it can increase chances of vaginal infection;
  • Apple cider vinegar can be used for cleaning – it will help restore vaginal PH level and reduce risks of vaginal infections;
  • Eat regularly yogurt to provide your body with more lactobacillus that maintain proper balance in the vagina – it will protect from yeast infections;
  • Eating and/or inserting garlic in the vagina can kill odor-causing bacteria.
