Cannot lose weight

Many women are trying desperately to lose weight without any success. Sometimes it is because of female body physiological tendency to “hold on” to a certain amount of fat. Sometimes genetic factors are too strong and women need more efforts. Sometimes stress and bad habits interfere and prevent weight lose. Sometimes hormonal dysfunctions require certain specific approaches. And often the problem can be traced directly to certain lifestyle traps. In all cases if women cannot lose weight, reasons should be clarified and solutions should be discussed with experts.

Weight loss is simple – just eat less and exercise more. But there are also several factors which should be taken into consideration.

Stressed woman usually have problems in food balancing. Stress can impact body weight in a number of ways. Chronic on-going stress cause increased production of hormone cortisol which is linked to blood sugar imbalance and weight gain. At the same time, stress increase levels of another “stress hormones” (adrenalin) which is responsible for stimulating the appetite and sweets craving. Even if you are not hungry, you are going to your refrigerator.
Overweight, obesity and desperate useless attempts could also cause stress. You try to eat less and count calories but scale doesn’t move and self-esteem goes down. Again stress!
During stress it is recommended avoid binge eating and go out for walk, exercising, deep relaxing breathing, visiting friends and having fun.

Balanced hormones keep female body healthy and strong but not fat. Hormonal dysfunctions such as menstrual disturbances, polycystic ovarian syndrome, premenstrual syndrome, amenorrhea could be responsible for not controlled weight gain. Visit your doctor and discuss the problem.

Vitamin D
Unfortunately millions of women have vitamin D deficiency which could cause not only osteoporosis, tiredness, fatigue, excessive sweating, depression and cancer but also fat storing and weight gain. May be you cannot lose weight because of vitamin D deficiency.
It would be recommended to check levels of vitamin D in your blood and spent more time outdoor (especially during sunny days).

Wrong exercising
Some women keep exercising without knowing which kind of exercises are needed. Best recommendation would be to choose different types of exercises not only for different parts of body but also for fun. Good mood and positive approaches are very important if you cannot lose weight.

Digestive system
Digestion and absorption are very important during weight management. Many people say “You are what you eat!” but in reality “You are what you digest and absorb”. Actually gut health will determine our overall wellbeing. The bacteria that lie in the gut help to fight disease, process daily food, make nutrients and stimulate certain hormones.

Long sitting habit
If your profession require long sitting or you suffer from ass sitting habits, it could be the reason why you cannot lose weight. Only recommendation would be to move every hour or walk during lunch or do stretching. Your body needs movements every 30-40 minutes.

Sleep habits
Sleeping is very important period of life – during sleep several important processing, restoration and strengthening occur. Certain period of sleep is needed for optimal health and well being. First, you don’t eat while sleeping. Second, sleep deprivation cause increased levels of cortisol and adrenalin (so called “stress hormones”) which stimulate appetite and sweets craving.
So, get enough sleep, check your sleep duration, avoid sleep mistakes and late sleep.

Many health experts recommend regular cleansing because during certain period of life body “collect” harming toxins, chemical and useless metabolism elements, especially if you regularly consume increased doses of alcohol, sugar, junk food and coffee. Sometimes liver become sluggish and you start feeling low, tired and moody. It means sluggish liver cannot process certain substances efficiently and you need a good cleanse.

According to scientists, women who are overweight or obese during pregnancy are more likely to have overweight babies – and the problem often persists into adulthood. It means if you have obese mother, most probably you would need more exercises and more efforts to fight stubborn weight – minimum one hour exercises every day.

If you skip your breakfast, expect problems in your weight lose project. It is important to know that body has fat burning metabolism which is “sleeping” during night. You can wake it up by morning breakfast (preferably one hour after waking up).

Habitual alcohol consumption (even moderate) can be a reason why you cannot lose weight because alcohol usually causes daily calorie “overdose”. For loosing extra weight you need to change your drinking habits.

Hypothyroidism can be a reason for weight gain. Better check thyroid hormones via simple blood test.

Pancreatic hormone insulin helps the body move sugar from food into the cells – it transports glucose first to the liver and then to the muscles where it’s stored as glycogen to use as energy. Increased levels of insulin can take fat cells and store it. If you cannot lose weight, best test your insulin.

Food consumption mistakes

  • May be you are eating too much? – check calories and compare with your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR);
  • Are chewing food properly? – chewing food until it become liquid will support digestion and help losing weight;
  • Are you consuming hidden sugar? – read product labels while shopping; hidden sugar could be in many products;
  • May be you are not eating much but caloric? – check your daily calories consumption and consider fat burning diet;
  • Are you drinking enough water? – minimum 1.5-2 liter per day.
